Eco-friendly and ethical products with organic textiles

Much more than a trend, organic and eco-responsible textiles have become in just a few years a central element in clothing manufacturing. It occupies a significant place in the textile products sector (t-shirt, sweatshirt, tote bag, polo shirt, etc.).

It was unthinkable for us not to offer a range of clothing made from organic cotton or recycled materials: not because it is fashionable or to promote ourselves, but because it is a cause that is deeply important to us. to heart. At Riskap, we are very sensitive to ecological issues and we are aware that there is still a lot to do for textile manufacturing to become a completely environmentally friendly sector.

However, it seemed essential to us to participate in the efforts undertaken by certain brands to make the manufacturing of their clothing (or accessories) “cleaner” while respecting the working conditions of workers in their factories.

Organic, yes, but why?

Have you noticed how the media are emphasizing more and more the need to constantly renew your wardrobe? Fast fashion imposes a frantic pace: everything quickly becomes obsolete, everything is designed to be thrown away quickly. According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the lifespan of clothing has decreased by 36 % in 15 years. Most clothes are thrown away within a year, after just 7 to 10 uses. This trend is explained by changing fashions and deliberately reduced quality to lower production costs.

At Riskap, we oppose this destructive dynamic. We offer clothing and accessories made from much more eco-responsible materials: organic cotton and recycled fibers.

Organic cotton significantly reduces the environmental impact of the textile industry. Its production does not require pesticides, insecticides and chemicals, and requires much less water thanks to richer soils which retain moisture better.

Recycled materials, for their part, promote a circular approach to the textile industry. Instead of ending up as waste, the fibers are reused, which reduces the cultivation of new raw materials, a particularly polluting and resource-intensive practice.

By choosing Riskap, you are taking a step towards more sustainable fashion that respects our planet.

What about those who make our clothes?

The well-being of workers is a crucial aspect for us. At Riskap, we want to be transparent about the origin of our products. The majority of the clothing we offer comes from Bangladesh, a key player in the global textile industry. It is important to note that working conditions and regulations in this country differ from those in France.

However, the situation is changing. Bangladesh, once one of the poorest countries, is now the 41st largest economy in the world, offering better prospects for its people.

We ensure that we only work with partners who guarantee fair and safe working conditions for their employees. This assurance is validated by the label of the Fair Wear Foundation, an organization founded in 1999 in the Netherlands, which ensures compliance with fair and ethical labor standards.

This organization has established a real code of working conditions in companies. To obtain this label, textile manufacturers must respect several strict rules: prohibition of the exploitation of children (the legal age for working being 15 years), right to free association and freedom of association, wages to cover vital needs, regulated working time, and one day off every seven days.

These principles seem natural in France, but they are not yet acquired in many regions of the world. This label is therefore a real guarantee of the quality of working conditions in textile manufacturing factories. Inspections are frequent and carried out each year by independent experts.

At Riskap, compliance with this work code is a fundamental criterion for the selection of our partners. We believe that humans are an integral part of our environment, and it is essential for us to contribute to their well-being.
